Why a silent art auction?

The purpose of this art auction is to raise funds to purchase new technology for the art department. As an art teacher I would love to be able to increase student access to, and knowledge of how technology is used in the arts. Funds from the purchase of each art auction item will be used to purchase iPads and supplies to supplement digital photography equipment already in use by students. It is my hope that these enhancements to FBE's art curriculum will also help build a foundation for students to eventually enter a world (of art) that is becoming increasingly technology oriented. On this blog you will find works of art created by each classroom that will be up for auction on the evening of FBE's Art Night. Come back and check often for updates. Thank you in advance for your support and I look forward to seeing you on March 7th! ~Mrs. Low, Art Teacher

Mrs. Dunkleman's Class

Students in Mrs. Dunkleman's class all helped to design and color a mug for their art auction project.  Each mug has it's own individual pattern and personality just like the artist who created it. Mugs are Mod Podged onto a recycled newspaper background which was then painted with blue watercolor.  Size: 12x16

Ms. Lorell's Class

Over the last month and a half students in Ms. Lorell's class have been Pop Artists while learning about and creating artwork in this style.  One iconic piece of Pop Art is Robert Indiana's "LOVE" sculptures and paintings.  After feeling inspired by his message of "love not war," the class voted on a message for 2013 to share with our community.  As you can see, student's picked the word "LIVE" with a purple, light blue, and pink color scheme!   Size:12x16

Mrs. Landreth's Class

This bright and friendly bird was created with fingerprints!  Each student fingerprinted feathers on the bird with his or her own specific color.  Great job Mrs. Landreth's class!!  Size:12 x 16

Mrs. Kenley's class

As with the other third grade classes, this group of students worked together to create a sun themed piece of artwork.  Each student helped to paint the background, clouds, sun, Mod Podge wall paper for the sun's rays, or the letters that spell "Shine." Size: 12x16

Mrs. Greer-Knowles' Class

This delightful collage canvas was created on Valentine's Day!  Students Mod Podged painted hearts onto the canvas and/or helped stamp heart shapes.  Hearts contain the names of each student in the class, and around the edges, we wrote down all the things we love!  This would make a great class keepsake!!  Size: 12x16

Here's another piece of second grade artwork featuring an owl theme.  Don't you love the variety of colors, shapes, and sizes each student used to create their nocturnal bird?  Each owl is unique as well as  drawn and colored with sharpie and marker, then Mod Podged onto a bright spring green background.  Size: 12x16

Mrs. Hodge's Class

Over the last few weeks all 2nd graders have been creating works of art with an owl theme.  To continue this focus in our artwork for the art auction each student drew and colored an owl using sharpies and markers.  We then Mod Podged them to a canvas with a night theme!  Size: 12x16

Over the last few weeks all 2nd graders have been creating works of art with an owl theme.  To continue this focus in our artwork for the art auction each student drew and colored an owl using sharpies and markers.  We then Mod Podged them to a canvas with a night theme because, as we've learned, owls are nocturnal animals!  Size: 12x16
